Take Time Out to Dream!

We all have dreams.  What are your dreams?

There are so many things that you want to do with your life and yet  so many things that  you need to do each day just to keep things running smooth.  How do
we find the time to focus on our dreams?

When I got the opportunity to go to the Bahamas and work, it was exciting, kind of scarey, definitely a total change in lifestyle, but at the time a necessity.

The economy was on a downturn here, to say the least and since I owned my own
interior paint design business, I was concerned whether or not I would have
enough work to get us through.  When I got on the plane in West Palm Beach after
saying "goodbye"  to my husband (who would come to spend time there as well
later), the reality of it all began to sink in.  "Oh my, what have I done?" I
said to myself.  I am leaving my home, my friends, my life as I know it to go
live and work on a remote island.  "Am I really doing
this?"

At the time I didn't realize it, but I was following my dream.
If I had not gone to Andros and lived the life that I did, out of necessity for work,
I would never have experienced all the beautiful surroundings, the carefree lifestyle, the wonderful Bahamian people and the forever friendships that we will carry with us always just because I pushed through my fear and made it happen.  Sometimes we don't know where our paths will lead us.
Sometimes they are direct and occasionally we take the scenic route, with more
beauty but not as fast a pace.  For me, this was definitely the scenic route.
This made me realize that life was flying by me too fast and I was not spending
each day to the fullest and reaping all the rewards that were there just for the taking.

I walked or rode my bicycle to work (a block and a half away) and could smell the salt in the crisp air from the ocean.  The seagulls flew overhead as the sunlight began to brighten the morning and there was no traffic, no stoplights, just the sound of the breeze gently blowing through the palm trees or an occasional bird .  I'm
thinking, "this is what life was meant to be".  Art takes on a whole new meaning
and I really looked at the colors, the shadows, small details of everyday life.
And as it turned out this was definitely following my dream.

Remember dreams are only thoughts of what we would like to happen until we "make" them happen, then I guess you could say that your dream has come true!
